Soy un perdedor.
Apr. 1st, 2012 03:32 pmLast night I decided I was going to come here today and tell you all that I'm giving up, uninstalling TS2, and I'm going back to the basics...
------------------------------------------

Way WAY back.

Back when Morty and Bells were still married and it was a happier, SIMPLER time.
Then I remembered what today's date is and I realized none of you would believe me anyway. No amount of "BUT I'M SERIOUS!" would help. You would all just laugh and go, "Good one Fuzzy! You almost had us fooled!" e___e
Actually, you all are right though. Give up TS2? HAHA. Over my dead body! But I needed a "mind cleaner" of sorts, so I reinstalled TS1. I haven't played it in YEARS and it was like running into an old, dear friend you haven't seen or talked to in ages. It was so familiar and it's as fun as I remember it was. But most importantly, I realized just how freakin STUPID those sims were! Seriously. If you feel like your sims are on par with the intelligence expressed by rocks, spend a few hours playing TS1 again. My legacy sims look like freakin Mensa members now.
So of course the first thing I did after I installed TS1 was start an asylum. :D

Since topping a career in TS1 is practically impossible without another controllable in the household to act as the "friend maker" I decided my controllable sim would max all her skills instead.
Fifteen days into this I realized that was impossible. Considering it took that long to max just ONE skill. I decided I would call it over when she maxed just 3 skills. Which took a whopping 32 sim days. D:
Anyway... it pretty much started out like any asylum...

Surprisingly there were only five fires total. All caused by the same two sims. It turns out these were also the same two sims who were less likely to autonomously cook. I guess they knew better.
One of them, though, showed an unusual amount of intelligence...

He autonomously ordered pizza! I was so impressed with this. To the point of being nearly freaked out...

But then my faith in their lack of self-preservation was restored when the pizza arrived and no one bothered to answer the door...

The Einstein who ordered it in the first place resorted to eating chips instead.
You might notice there's an urn there in the shot...

The first death was a result of starvation, I think. Everyone was sick with the flu at this point. Even my controllable! So it took a full three days just to get her back into a good enough mood to skill again.
There were two deaths. That one...

And a Death By Fire, which happened way late... around day 29 or so.
Two deaths, total.

There was a total of five fights. These fights resulted in two sims running away. Meaning: they simply LEFT. Their faces disappeard off the roster and they walked off the lot never to be seen again. They even disappeared off my controllable's contact list. I had no idea that would happen! I decided I would have to count those as "deaths" as well. So that's a total of 4 sims lost.
Other totals include...

Twenty-three pass-outs in all...

And there was a grand total of 78 potty accidents. Which accounts for all the puddles you see in the previous photos!

After 32 days, and there being only 3 inmates left, I just didn't have the desire to play another 20 to 30 days it would take to max those last 3 skills, and still have anyone left in the end! I have no idea what the score would be... Dismal? None of them were friends with each other. And there was something like 11 skills earned by the remaining inmates.
But thanks to this I'm practically RUNNING back to TS2! Man, I can't wait to play... *loads game*

on 2012-04-01 09:02 pm (UTC)"Good one Fuzzy! You almost had us fooled!" was just about exactly what I was thinking. You actually uninstalled TS2?! *Sends thermometer along with chicken soup* You know it's okay if the Egyptian legacy isn't perfect. Even if they all have to share a dress I'll still read it. *hugs*

on 2012-04-02 03:09 pm (UTC)Hah, no I didn't uninstall TS2. I just couldn't resister the April Fools Day urge to pull legs about something. ;)
I know, it doesn't have to be PERFECT... but I'd like it be at least half decent. XD I've been talking about it so long, I'm afraid people are expecting something Epic. lol Thanks Jo. :)

on 2012-04-02 08:48 pm (UTC)And I agree about the leap to TS2 being lightyears ahead, It's weird looking at your pictures-I don't remember TS1 looking so bad! I thought at the time that the graphics were terrific! No wonder 2007 sims 2 cc looked so good. O.o TS3 is just its rather sad cousin. I have Pets now and still can't get into it.
Chicken(heh chook) soup makes everything better! :D

on 2012-04-01 09:14 pm (UTC)But remember, the important thing is that you're having fun. If things get to be too much trouble and you can't have fun anymore, then do what you have to do. We'll like you anyway. :D *hug*
And I never played Sims 1 either, but it looks like TS2 is lightyears ahead of it. :O I suppose I'll never drop down a generation of gameplay. Good for you for giving an asylum the ol' college try, though!
EDIT: ¡Y tu no es un perdedor! ("And you are not a loser!" ...Familiar form of "you" because we're friends.)
PS: Do you know, I would have believed you if you said you uninstalled? April 1 is just another day to me. :? Hmmm, maybe that's why there was all that Chuck Norris stuff on MTS today...

on 2012-04-02 03:18 pm (UTC)It's really amazing how much TS2 was a leap ahead from TS1! I was expecting the same thing when TS3 came out, but well... that wasn't the case. e__e
¡Gracias Esme! :)

on 2012-04-01 09:37 pm (UTC)I used to play Sims 1 like crazy until I witnessed a death when I watched my sister playing the game, and that scared me up to the point that I don't want to play it anymore. I also get scared about the music whenever a fire or burglary occurs.
I'm glad you had fun with it, and that's great.

on 2012-04-01 10:31 pm (UTC)Yay, for The Sims (glad to know I am not the only one who still has all of my discs). I've been doing something similar for a little while now actually, going back and replaying all of the Maxis/EA games in order of release as related to Sim products so it does include SimsCity and SimTower as well. I decided that I might actually play better as I got into the more recent products if I started with something simpler and "mastered" the older games since I don't think I ever really fully explored them, although SimCity 2000 was played pretty hard when it was originally released so I might have with that one. And yes, I agree, The Sims, Sims are dumber than rocks when left to their own devises; I'm actually amazed you had three inmates left, I have had a hard time keeping two Sims alive (since keeping one without a roommate for social score is next to impossible) when I was playing the game last year.
I'm glad this has made you appreciate your The Sims 2 Sims more; I do think we sometimes forget just how far they have come AI wise (including myself), although I do think there must be a line of code in there somewhere that encourages them doing the thing that will help them the least instead of the most. One time I read in one of the guides (not sure which game it was for) that they were supposed to pick from the top three most desperate needs, one to work on filling on their own. Unfortunately if you only have one need low and it happens to be hunger they never seem to pick that one. Then again I would had a Sim that would always chose to eat when his most desperate need was bladder so I do think some have just have issues.
What is funny is this is encouraging me to load my SimCity game to get moving on my goal for that so I can start on the next game. Thank you :-)

on 2012-04-02 03:36 pm (UTC)Wow, you're on quite the Sims journey then! :D I played TS1 for YEARS. I think TS2 had been out for at least 2 years before I finally gave in and bought the base game. I was convinced it couldn't possibly be better than TS1. >_< lol I'm so glad I tried it.
I think a sims personality has some influence on what needs they will take care of first. Sloppy sims seem to ignore their bladder longer, while playful sims will ignore their hunger to get their fun bar back into green first. WHO KNOWS. I'm just glad they are smarter than TS1 sims. lol

on 2012-04-02 03:42 pm (UTC)I figure if my legacy LOOKS awesome, then people won't notice the crappy writing. lol XD But really, I know it's not going to be perfect the first couple of generations. I've got to make so much stuff myself it's not even funny. :P

on 2012-04-02 03:54 am (UTC)Glad to hear you're doing better.
Ahhh, The Sims*smiles nostalgicly*. I had just the Deluxe edition (base game+ Livin' Large) and Unleashed, and for a while The Sims Vacation (a friend let me borrow the disc), but I miss it sometimes. It's kinda a pity I got rid of all my Sims1 discs *sighs*. Oh well, the nostalgia brought on by your pictures was wonderful.

on 2012-04-02 03:45 pm (UTC)They STILL sell the The Sims Complete Collection in stores! I saw it just the other day somewhere... Which is sad because their aren't ANY TS2 games still on the shelf anywhere I look. :( I think they wanted to remove them so people weren't confused between those EPs and the ones for TS3. Plus, TS3 is supposed to be their "money maker" now.
Thanks. :)

on 2012-04-03 05:26 am (UTC)Thgey don't sell much in the way of old games in my town, but that could be because my town suck when it comes to any sort of shopping;seriously it's crap for a town its size, especially considering we've had such a huge increase of people in town. Even the other towns I usually go to for shopping don't have anything. *sigh* I guess its ebay for me.

on 2012-04-02 12:36 pm (UTC)Wow, it brings it all back seeing those TS1 pictures, the cartoon fires and the reeeeally slow skilling. I love how you made your simself in TS1 as well. To think, for a year I refused to upgrade to TS2 because I didn't like the idea of them ageing! So glad I did. :D
I didn't read this until the 2nd so I was worried for a moment there! Sending positive vibes to you for your legacy, and you know we'll all be super excited to read it whenever you're ready. The picspam all looks amazing so far. :)

on 2012-04-02 03:57 pm (UTC)Thanks Amy. I hugely underestimated just how much CC I would have to make myself before I started staging. BUT, daunting as it is, I know I'll get it done eventually. :)

on 2012-04-03 04:47 pm (UTC)It's funny, but TS1 is one of the FEW computer games I kept when we moved. At that point I hadn't played it in years, and wasn't even sure it would run on my system anymore, but I just couldn't bear to give it up. XD Glad I didn't! It's really still lots of fun. I think the Makin' Magic was my favorite EP.
Aw, thanks Ani-Mei. :)

on 2012-04-17 05:22 pm (UTC)Oh man, there is so much about Sims1 that I had completely forgotten. I hadn't realized just how HARD it is until I started playing it again after 5 years of TS2!
