Hold My Beer! 2.3

I was able to do something this week that I haven't done in many years... I played a marathon 15 hour session! This is going to be a fast bunch of stuff to keep up with, so pay attention!

The last time we were here it was time for the second heir poll. The six candidates ranged from a teen who is less than a day away from turning adult, to a baby who had only been a toddler for less than a day, and all ages in between. The results weren't even close in the end!
AND THE WINNER IS...

You all picked the toddler who isn't even fully potty trained yet. Much less ready to start the next generation! BUT that's okay, it was a great choice. Honest...
Anyway, I should mention that I officially changed her name in the game to "Edna" because, well, LOOK at her. I would have put round glasses on her during the toddler stage, but I didn't take the time to hunt any down. You won't see much of her as a toddler anyway. There's a LOT of playing to do to get to her adult birthday and things are going to move at a breakneck pace! Onward!
Besides Edna, there are still five other kids in the house.

Going from the youngest (after Edna) to the oldest, we first have Dinky. He's still got a while to go before he's out of the house. So you'll likely see more of Dinky than the others only because he's around longer.

Then there's Critter on the right and Barney on the left.

The other girl in the house is Marigold. Who is rather unfortunately pregnant at the moment. Though she's due to pop in less than 24 hours.

The oldest child is Rocky. He's due to grow up in less than 24 hours. Maybe he'll get that done before that MacGregor guy comes to hurt him...

The parents of all these kids are Nikki and Bodean. Here we see Nikki nagging Bodean for breaking the tub fixture for the 20th or 50th time in recent weeks.
You can see all the damns that Bodean gives right now.

Because here is what Bodean sees.

Bodean, sigh. I had to make him quit the Slacker career and start Culinary because they are down to NO money again and the promotions are the fastest way to get extra cash fast. Well... they are when the Chance Cards don't mess things up. D:

The reason they need the extra cash right now is because of this. Not bail money, but they need to adopt a dog.
Because the two dogs on the lot right now have been trying to have puppies for what seems like years!

Every single day I'd have Bodean or Nikki tell them to try (notice Bodean is still YOUNG in this picture)...

And they tried (notice Nikki is still YOUNG in this picture)...

And they TRIED. They must have tried at least 30 times! I was starting to suspect that at some point I downloaded something that was conflicting with something and rendering my dogs suddenly infertile. But that's something I don't have time to sort out right now....

SO they adopted a dog because old Rosco is not long for this world and they need at least two dogs on the lot at all times. I have a hack in place that prevents strays spawning and the only dog available to adopt from the agency was this runt that cost over 1200 simoleons! So now the Hicks are dirt poor again. Oh, I named the dog Sparkplug. It's a girl.

Anyway, another face and name were added to the household that night. And Marigold gave her brothers an education... I love the varied reactions, from "OMG GROSS!" to "Hmm, fascinating" to "I'm gonna pass right out, you all!" And of course dear old Dad with the ages-old "You're making my life worse!" complaint to the heavens.

It's a baby girl named Winona. And you might as well forget she exists now.

*sigh* Because I guess they all did.

So pretty soon Rocky does what all the other teens in this house have done up until now: he becomes absurdly obese...

Then he grows up and moves out. Rocky mystified my by actually NOT going into Aspiration Failure just then. Happiness must be related to having one's shirt tucked into one's underwear.

Yay! Forced birthdays all around! I love it when they come in chunks like this. Feels like progress.

I started with Winona....

Hm. Marigold seems to be regretting some of her life choices at this point. As she should be.

Now it's Dinky's turn...

.... Well. I guess Dinky wins first place for picking the most ridiculous everyday outfit. He also rolled Romance. Good luck with that one, Loincloth Boy.

Edna's turn!
I wasn't happy with that outfit so I sent her to the closet to see if one of the past residents left something more appropriate for her Edna'ness...

Not perfect, but it'll do. :D

Of course being heir does not make her immune from her mean older brothers' annoying affections.

Eventually Summer rolled around again so Bodean was set to digging for treasure in the holes the dogs leave all over the property.

Because it's yard sale time! I'm leaving the bones and rocks in hiding until everything else sells first. The Sims in this town have a terrible rock addiction and those will sell all day while everything else is ignored! Then time runs out and all I've sold are cheap-ass rocks...

The reporter! I can't believe it took this long for one to show up!
Also, please notice how Bodean is standing at the register when I told him to "be cashier"....

Bodean, you're doing itwrong weird. o__o

That's even WEIRDER! No matter how I turned the counter, he just couldn't seem to figure out where he was supposed to stand.
But he managed to get them rung up somehow...

And got the Best of the Best Award! (LOL "you really know what your doing"...??! This chick must be high.)
Okay, I have been playing with Open for Business for years now and this is the FIRST time I have ever gotten this award. Usually because the reporter will show up the moment the business opens for the first time when no one knows what the heck they are doing, then he will leave disgusted and he never come back.
Or, that's how it seems to happen.... Can't possibly have anything to do with how I play businesses. <_<

The yard sale was a moderate success and got them enough cash to finally put something in that big empty part of the living room. This builds zero job skills, but they don't exactly need skills here. Just something to discourage them from Smustle dancing right there. e__e
So the next few Sim days were spent waiting for the teens to grow up. They all seem to have their own brand of "Crazy"...

Marigold likes to torment the refrigerator....

Critter torments the garbage bin...

Dinky torments teen girls... And I can't believe he just got himself Plat just then. Also, I need to point out that Jules O'Mackey there has been every Clone Brother's first kiss. e__e
What would your dad say, Jules!? Sheesh. Especially since big brother Rocky is actually living with them now. <_< I really need to get her grown up and married to him. Though maybe I shoulda done that before the other two clones brought her home from school with them. Oh well.
Edna is at least happy enough...

*sigh* Though her parents are doing their best to scar her.

Hey, remember there's a toddler in the house? I realized I hadn't divulged Winona's personality, so here it is. I can't tell Marigold to grow up, so we have to wait for her to do it on her own tomorrow night.

I guess Winona and Dinky are tied for first place now.

I was going to have an all out, ever-lovin slappy fit of RAGE if Marigold had managed to get herself pregnant again when she is only just a few hours away from growing up and getting the hell out of here! But fortunately (for HER) that "try for baby" just then didn't produce a lullaby.
That is Daniel, by the way. He's Winona's father. And Marigold's future husband. *shoulders shotgun*

When 6 PM rolled around, Marigold was putting some finishing slashes of RUIN on someone's painting...

Then she came in second place for ridiculous outfit...

One therapist visit later, and she was ready to move out.
But not before she drags Daniel into adulthood with her...

He was actually still in the house.

So Marigold and Winona moved out, and Daniel stole a couple of gnomes.
Gah. Go be a responsible father, you dweeb!

Oh NOW they get a lullaby! After I spent 1200 big ones on that little black speck of a pooch and my long-time resident dogs finally give me one for free.

Okay, in the last update I mentioned that I had bought a toy making bench back in August and couldn't remember why. It turns out Nikki came with a bronze toy making badge, so I must have thought she could make toys to sell at the yard sales. Well... that was a stupid idea. Because it costs a lot of money to MAKE the toys (taking them back down to zero dollars again and again) and when the toys are priced at "ridiculously cheap" for the yard sale, they sell for less than what it cost to make them! Something I didn't realize until much later (when the next yard sale happened). So this is basically just throwing money away and making Nikki miserable in the meantime.
Go me. e__e

Something else that I did back in August that I totally forgot about was having them buy hunting land. Jane's death left them enough money to get a community lot down the street...

Now that all the kids are old enough (and there's fewer of them!) I decided to send them down there to camp out for a couple of days.

Turns out this is really boring. All they did was sleep in the tents and eat hamburgers.

BORING. They were only there for 24 hours.

This long distance wave thing always cracks me up. That's Jethro over there. He's Bodean's much older brother... obviously I'm not playing the spares. <_<

Uh... hm. A fact that Bodean seems to resent. o_O

Clover and Rosco (the dogs I never show but always complain about) finally had their puppy that took like 83 tries to get! I named him Spot. I have no idea at this point if he'll have spots, but whatever. Maybe he'll get along with Sparkplug because the other two dogs can't stand her!

So um... that's actually Bodean in the diving suit. Yes, this is his funeral outfit. It's the last few hours of his last day and I've got him and Nikki on a date right now trying to get his Aspiration meter into the white so he'll have a pretty tombstone.

But 5:59 came faster than I expected it to, so I had to make Bodean RUN to this spot in the yard...

Ugh. He was in the gold, but apparently that's not good enough for a fancy stone. At least he got hula girls and a tiki drink. He was only 67 days old. Nikki has still got a lot of life on the ol' meter. I just hope it's enough to see Edna through her teen days. D:

Er... I will make a note of this for later reference.
Anyway, Bodean dropped about 50,000 simoleons into the household bank account, so it looks like they get to have BIGGER hunting land!

"SNIFF... diver daddy is g-gone..."

"Woo! Money!"

"SNIFF... diver daddy..."

FINALLY Edna is a teen! Just 15 days to go. D:
Anyway, she rolled Family (with fortune secondary) and wants to be Captain Hero. As long as there's NO CAPES involved.
And that pretty much brings us to the end of those 10-or-so days. The next update will cover all of Edna's teenage days as I try to keep her alive.

Expect MUCH dysfunction! D:

Bye Bodean! You were awesome.

on 2013-04-06 10:02 pm (UTC)Oh and I guess I just spoiled it by saying she made it to adulthood. lol... I think if the heir dies when they are still a teen and there are no younger siblings in the house, then it's Game Over and you lose the challenge. :P I kinda didn't want that to happen. Heh. But otherwise, the heirship would revert to the next youngest sibling or the one who got the second most votes if they are still at home.

on 2013-04-06 11:16 pm (UTC)How full is the lot? Dogs are limited just as much as sims are by how many people/pets you can have. If you have eight sims and two dogs, you're out of space.
Aw, the glasses totally make Edna look awesome.
...Skills? Who needs skills in a TPC?
Awwww, bye Bodean!
Yay teenhood!

on 2013-04-17 10:43 pm (UTC)Only partly kidding -- there's no such thing as updating too fast, but there is such a thing as reading too slowly. At any rate, this is hilarious, and Edna's new look is perfect!
Also, it was very hard not to laugh at the "shotgun" part. (They look at you funny if you bust out laughing in the library...)
On to the next part!
