Hold My Beer! 2.2 (and heir poll)

I'm afraid I played at a blistering pace and have come to a point where I need to know who the next heir is already!  Since this whole generation felt disjointed due to me not playing it for half a year, now I just want to get to generation 3 so I can sort of start "fresh" again.  So prepare yourselves for a whirlwind update that covers a LOT of birthdays!

We begin the reintroductions with the oldest child in the house, Rocky.  I can count the number of days he's been a teen by the number of homework notebooks he has stacked up.  :P





Next are Melba (on the left) and Marigold (on the right).  Marigold is the second born.  Melba was next and shares her birthday with another brother...






Critter.  Who is of course the result of an alien abduction.






Then there's momma Nikki.  Who is conveniently going into labor just as the school bus arrives!  I was afraid this would drop the "go to school" action from the kids' queues, but they completely ignored the birth.  I guess by now it's old hat.  OH, and spot the toddler head in the background giving one of the dogs a minus-minus.  That's the youngest (or was until 3 seconds after this shot), a boy named Barney who is a clone of the Rocky.  Face, personality, everything.






And it's ANOTHER blond boy!  Ugh, I'll bet a million simoleons he's a clone of Rocky and Barney.  But he's here, so we gotta keep him.  I named him Dinky, since he'll be the littlest clone.  e__e






And finally, there's Bodean the father (to the clones, anyway) and my first heir.






Alrighty, time for Marigold to become the second uncontrolable teen in the house...






She picked one heck of an outfit.  D:  She rolled Fortune (Romance secondary).






The guy Rocky brought home from school that day - Daniel something - tried to hit on her.  They've got two bolts so I expect he'll succeed in wooing her at some point.






And before you know it it's time for Dinky Clone to become a toddler...






So which one is Dinky and which one is Barney?  Yeah... Thank goodness Barney is aging up too!






Looks exactly like Rocky did at that age!  I'll need to at least change his hair style.

Anyway, Barney's actually kinda fun, even being a clone of Rocky.  So it's like having Little Rocky back, back when he wasn't crazy like he is now.






Of course he and Critter are solidly in the Best Friends zone.  Despite how they "play" together.






I bought them this toy making bench back in August, and I have absolutely no idea WHY I bought it.  D:  I'm gonna assume that I intended to have Nikki or Bodean make toys for the kids, and have lots of extras to sell at the yard sale when it comes around again.  But Bodean is busy with either working or gardening so he doesn't have time to make toys.  And Nikki is busy having kids!






I always have a mini heart attack when I see Grim on the lot and it's not time for any of them die of old age.  This was for one of the dogs though...






I might have to put a pet cemetery in town and move the graves.  There's always at least one dog haunting every night and I've not seen Clown Bubba in ages because they are hogging the spook schedule!  Ghost dogs are a bit of a nuisance.






As are live dogs!  GAH, this is like the third time I've had to replace this bed!  Bodean's meager income is barely covering the expense of having to buy a new one every few days.  But maybe I should not have replaced this bed so fast.  Because...







This is ridiculous.  That's twice in a row now!  I guess a 10% chance of risky pregnancy is just too high for these two.  They are both less than a week from turning elder at this point.  I sure hope you two are up to caring for a toddler in your OLD AGE.  Because I'm sure not going to do it.  GAH.







Okay I have a stupid confession to make.  D:  I thought Bodean was in the criminal career so I was buying two pay-off gnomes every day when he came home from work.  No one has been in the criminal career since his father Bubba was!  What the heck, self?!  I lost track of how many days I was buying gnomes, but it wasn't more than three.  I removed a couple after I realized my mistake, but there are probably still a few extras.  Oh well.






They DO get stolen!  But I've yet to lose one.  The kids practically fight over who gets to go get them back.






Time to add two more teens to the house!  Already.  Seems like only yesterday Melba and Critter became kids.  And as fast as I played this, it might have actually been yesterday...






Critter rolled Fortune (gah, so many fortune sims!) and Popularity secondary.  He intends to be a Business Tycoon.  Not if he's heir...






Melba, as pretty as she is, can't be heir at all because she rolled Knowledge!  So she'll get to move out as soon as she gets a few more creativity skill points for that third scholarship she'll need for college.






That same night Dinky grew up to a kid.  I don't really need to show a picture because he looks exactly like Barney.   And Rocky.  -__-






Bodean is just a few days away from turning elder and I realized he had not gotten his photobooth portrait done yet!  SO, a trip to Walmart was in order.  Which was actually kinda refreshing because I really needed the change of scenery by now.






I'm not sure WHY Bodean is winking, but that's his big sister Dixie about to be pick-pocketed.  It's a no wonder I thought he was actually in the criminal career.  :P






Since he had the money, I decided to have him buy himself an elder outfit, too.






Which of course put them at nearly zero in the bank again.  :P  One last tally of the household before people start getting old and moving out.  We are at 6 kids with one on the way.  And we're down to two dogs... gonna have to make them try for puppies soon.






The next day Bodean was off from work so he got to spend it repairing broken plumbing around the house.  He... looks like he's attempting to INTIMIDATE that faucet into fixing itself.  If it knows what's good for it, it will comply!






Rocky really is out of control these days.  I never could understand why Pleasure Sims have such a hard time staying happy!  It's not like they aren't rolling the easiest wants to fulfill. :(






So far Critter is doing great.  Of course he's still got a lot of time as a teen...






Marigold seems okay so far.  Except for the fact that she can't seem to make it to one of the showers before someone else gets to it first.  Daniel is still attempting to win her affections.






Melba spent a day at the easel and now has all the scholarships she needs for college!  I immediately sent her on her way just so there was one less head to keep track of in the house.

And I have to show a photo of her after she arrived at college...






I guess she was so excited about going to college she managed to make the cheerleader team during the cab ride over!  VO GERBITS!






Anyway, Nikki's about to pop any minute now.  This last pregnancy was rough on her.  (and she's gonna have some killer 'pillow lines' on her face when she wakes up...)






While Marigold's mom is "distracted" it gave Daniel the perfect opportunity to finally get his first kiss!  I guess Marigold is finally okay with him touching her...






Excuse me, Marigold!  What about "not on the first date" don't you understand?!  :O






MARIGOLD!!  This was a lullaby you all.  D:  I figured this might end up happening at some point, but that still didn't make it easier to accept.  Anyway, I was barely over the shock of this when the event camera flung me into the next room...






Because Nikki finally finished her chili con carne nap just in time to go into labor.






Though I'm wondering if it was the labor or the fact that she's actually in bladder failure that woke her up.  (also note that upon becoming pregnant, Marigold's portrait jumped above Rocky's making her the oldest "teen" in the house now.  I've never had a pregnant teen before, so I'm not sure if I'll have to manually age her up when it's time, or what... but it says she's at "15 days to elder" o_O )






But all that aside - HALLELUJAH it's a girl with brown hair!  The clone cycle has been broken!  *\o/*
I named her Anna May.






I think if Sims didn't actually pee out of their toes, she might have gotten most of it into the toilet just from proximity.






There's a bazillion teens in the house right now, so Anna May is well cared for.  She'll lay on the floor screaming in a dirty diaper most of the time, but by golly she won't be hungry!

Dinky seems to be contemplating something... perhaps the fact that he's the third kid in a row with that face.  Or murder.  He might be contemplating murder...






The next day everyone but the infant and the pregnant teen are at school, and it's Bodean's elder-turning day.  So I decided to do it right, with a cake and all.  Suppose I shoulda made them change out of their pajamas and into some real clothes.  Eh.






I had to look twice to make sure he wasn't actually flipping me off.  <_<

  "Marigold, why aren't you at school?"
"Uh, mom... I guess I have something to tell you..."







Jules O'Mackey has been another frequent "school bus friend" and I guess Rocky somehow managed to avoid noogie'ing her out of First Kiss range.

Of course they went and hopped in the sack right after this.  Gawd.  At least HE can't get pregnant.  And the next time a dog eats that bed, I am NOT replacing it.  D:






Then Critter is right there to torment Rocky for having a girlfriend  "Rocky and Jules sitting in a tree!"

I don't expect these two will be friends.  Ever.






Quick, which one is Barney is which is Dinky?  Barney's the one becoming a teen right now...






He likes green!  Barney rolled Fortune (ugh, anther one!) and Family as his secondary.  That's already loads better than Rocky's Pleasure / Fortune combo.  e__e






While we're on a roll, let's do Anna May's birthday too....






OH MY GOLLY.  Look at that face!  :D  She just needs some huge round glasses and she would look just like Edna from The Incredibles!  I've got to find her some glasses...






And this is it, folks.  The LAST birthday for this update!  Collective sigh of relief, aaaannd...

Now all that's left is the heir poll!  I decided to go ahead and just put them all in, so you've got 6 kids to choose from.  Even Edna Anna May, despite there not really being any more photos of her, but you can see her personality below.  So in no particular order:

  Rocky will likely go into all out Aspiration Failure the second he grows up since he has been pretty consistently in the red since the day he became a teen.  Like most Pleasure sims he's really crap about making decisions.  If he's not heir he'll likely end up with Jules O'Mackey, but since she's a playable they won't be marrying if he is heir.  Rocky's favorite pastimes include kicking tombstones, ruining paintings, and kicking the garbage bin over.  Then immediately cleaning it back up.

Barney Hicks
Fortune / Family
  Barney (aka Clone 2) still has a lot of time left as a teen, so it remains to be seen if he'll follow in his older brother's footsteps where mental stability is involved.  So far he has no romantic interests, though he did randomize as straight.  Barney's favorite activities include pushing kids on the swing (nicely even), playing catch Whack with Critter, and rolling up pet related wants.

Days until adulthood: 14






Dinky Hicks
No Aspiration yet.
  Dinky (aka Clone 3) kinda got a raw deal here.  Seriously, three identical boys in a row was a bit redundant.  He's genetically identical to both Rocky and Barney, so I guess it's not going to matter WHO is heir out of the clones!  Of course the danger of him becoming heir is that he might roll Knowledge still.  Dinky's favorite pastimes include baking muffins that he never eats, cleaning the dishes, and playing cops and robbers.

Days until adulthood: 18






Critter Hicks
Fortune / Popularity
  Critter has, hands down, the freakiest personality in the bunch!  Aspiration wise he's actually in the green as I type this.  That might not last.  He's the only teen in the house right now who isn't on the verge of becoming overweight do to his late night Dance Sphere sessions.  He randomized straight and has no romantic interests yet.  Critter's favorite activities include giving noogies, arguing with everyone about anything, and scrubbing the toilets.

Days until adulthood: 10






Marigold Hicks
Fortune / Romance
  Marigold is the only one in the poll who isn't actually Bodean's biological child.  She has a sweet personality and gets along well with everyone.  She's of course pregnant right now and will likely end up with Daniel (the baby daddy) if she's not heir and maybe even if she is.  I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.  Marigold's favorite activities include playing with the RC car, lounging on the couch, and getting knocked up.  e__e

Days until adulthood: ??  (it should be around 6 at this point)






Anna May Hicks
No Aspiration yet.
  Can I just change her name to Edna?  :D  Also, where did she get that personality?!  At least it's a nice change from the constant string of Scorpios I've gotten in this challenge.  The upside to Anna May becoming heir is that the house will be practically deserted by the time she's an adult.  The downside is of course the amount of time left until she IS an adult.  Though having a toddler heir means I can shape her and mold her to be the best heir ever.  Muahaha.  Anna May's favorite pastimes include playing with the block sorter, "following" Bodean when he's asleep, and pooping.

I'm betting the toy bench was so you could get water wigglers or whatever they're called, so you don't have to bathe the dogs. I know that's why Heidi got one in this challenge.

...Another risky? Dear lord.

The problem with Pleasure Sims is that 95% of their wants are only +500, and they don't always get those autonomously - and they almost always want a date, which isn't something you can actually give them if they're uncontrollable.

I've not had a problem with that First Born Clone Glitch in ... about 6 years! So I never had a reason to rolled the dice between pregnancies. D: I DID go into CAS just for that purpose while Nikki was pregnant with the last one. Which obviously seems to have worked. What the heck, game?!

lol Is it safe to change a Sim's first name? I've heard conflicting info regarding that. If I can, I'm totally changing her name to Edna. Otherwise that will just be what I call her from here one. ;)

It's safe if you do it in game via simblender. It's NOT safe to do it via SimPE.

And maybe you've been playing lots of sims at once and not stopping the game? Or in your Egyptians having multiple mothers give birth in a session could do it.

I can't even begin to map it all. I know I played my whole OWBC without ever having to roll to avoid clones (because I just simply never did it). And I would play the main house nearly nonstop for many births. :/ I hate to think that's the one thing the Store Edition actually fixed. D:

Well, playing nonstop for multiple births is what makes it not necessary to roll. Basically, there's a list - 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. Every time you restart the game, the first baby born fits profile 1 - what that profile is specifically depends on the parents, so if you have baby 1 in one household and next time it's in another household, you won't notice a problem. And if you keep playing, the second kid will be 2, the third 3, etc. The problem is when you play through one birth, save, quit, and next time go back to that house and have one birth without rolling the dice. It's why twins are never 100% identical, though they can be quite similar - they're automatically 1 and 2 on the list or later on if you've had other kids. So playing nonstop through many births will solve the issue, as will rolling the dice - which sends you to a random number on the list, so you might start that session at 15 and the next at 9 on the list.

Probably a combination of long play sessions and switching between houses - if you've had the spares give birth before going back to the main house, for instance.

I was just coming to say the game will reset to the first born if you exit between births but. The easiest way to avoid clones is to use the bat box before leaving the lot.

I honestly have NO idea how I've avoided clones all these years when I wasn't even consciously doing anything to avoid it. I know I've played long sessions and I've played stop-and-save sessions where babies were born in between. So yeah, no clue. lol
