Notes:  If you've seen any of my 1st generation pic spam you might recognize the names of these brothers.  Spoiler ahoy.

“Brother, you must be quick,” Khufu spoke quietly as he glanced towards shore, less than a dozen body lengths off the starboard side, where a number of large Nile crocodiles were sunning themselves on the hot, cracked mud.  Off the port side, Raneb had one hand on the edge of their small boat where he was treading water.

“Just keep the boat from drifting, little man.  The bottom is close here, and I’ll have our anchor back in only a moment.” Raneb flashed him a confident, handsome grin and then disappeared under the surface.

Khufu turned his head towards the crocodiles again.  There was a large ripple spreading out from the shore as if someone had tossed a rock in at the water’s edge.  Horrified, Khufu realized one of the beasts had silently entered the river when he wasn’t looking!  He spun and leaned over the other side of the boat, nearly tipping it.

“Brother!” he yelled, his child voice cracking with terror. “BROTHER!”
